Over 30 persons, including six girls, were arrested for alleged violations under the Excise Act after police conducted a raid at a hotel here.

The police conducted the raid at the hotel shortly after midnight last night after receiving information about the violations, Ambala's Assistant Commissioner of Police, Hitesh Yadav said today.

Police found that a party was going on and liquor was being served and 'hookahs' being used in violation of the provisions of the Excise Act.

"We arrested 27 boys and six girls, most of them locals," Yadav said.

"The accused have been booked under Sections 68/1/14 of the Excise Act and other relevant provisions of the law including Section 188 IPC," he said.

He also said that a person representing the hotel had "run away" from the spot when the raid was conducted.

"We have also named the hotel owner in the FIR as we found violations under the Excise Act," he said.

When asked if it was a 'rave party', Yadav said no use of banned drugs had been found at the hotel premises.
