Over 300 investor awareness programmes organised in Nov 2013

To protect the interests of investors as well as educate them, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs had organised as many as 306 investor awareness programmes across the country in November last year.

With this, a total of 1,107 investor awareness programmes have been organised by the ministry, during the first eight months of the current financial year (till end of November), an official statement said.

These programmes have been organised by the ministry through its three professional institutes -- Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) and the Institute of Cost Accountants of India.
 

As per the ministry, a total of 1,986 investor awareness programmes were organised in the last financial year (2012-13).

"For these programmes, an amount of Rs 5 crore has been earmarked in the budget of the ministry," the statement said.

In recent months, the ministry has also started organising the programmes in the rural areas of the country.

For the purpose of organising such programmes the ministry has engaged the services of CSC e-Governance Services India Ltd.
