PAC wants its proceedings open to media, moves LS Speaker

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) wants its proceedings to be opened to the media and has moved the Lok Sabha Speaker in this regard.

PAC chairman K V Thomas said here the main committee has approved the suggestions made by one of its sub-committees to allow media watch proceedings like they do in the Lok Sabha or the Rajya Sabha.

A meeting of the chairpersons of Public Accounts Committees of the Commonwealth countries had noted that the media has a crucial role in reporting the work of the PAC to the public.

The recommendations are now with the Speaker pending a final decision.
