Passport Officer held by CBI on graft charge

CBI today arrested the Passport Officer of Malappuram on the charge of demanding bribe for renewal of a passport.

The officer, P Ramakrishnan, was arrested by a CBI team from Kochi based on a complaint from a passport applicant that he demanded Rs 50,000 for renewal of the passport, CBI sources told PTI.

Searches were conducted by CBI at the passport seva kendra office in Malappuram, they said.
