Punjab Government today said it has engaged IAS officers in supervising the paddy procurement process at district level.
The IAS officers would visit the districts allotted to them at least twice before September 30 and supervise every aspect of the process - check availability, procurement, storage facility, lifting and make payment, an official spokesperson said.
They are then required to send report to the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Principal Secretary to the Deputy Chief Minister, and the Secretary of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, he said.

These officers would also be overall in-charge of all required arrangements till the end of paddy procurement season, the spokesperson said.
C Roul, Principal Secretary of School Education, has been designated as Nodal Officer for Fazilka and Mukatsar, G Vajralingam, Principal Secretary of Science Technology and Environment, for Sangrur and Barnala, while Secretary (Elections) B Sarkar is in charge of Mohali and Roopnagar.
Vishavjeet Khanna, Principal Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, is in charge of Ludhiana and Moga; Sanjay Singh, Principal Secretary of Jails, has been given for SBS Nagar and Hoshiarpur; while Roshan Sunkaria, Financial Commissioner of Rural Development and Panchayat got Mansa and Bathinda districts.
The spokesperson also said R Venkatratnam, Principal Secretary of Transport, has been designated as nodal officer for Amritsar and Tarn Taran; A Venu Parshad, Secretary of Power, for Jalandhar and Kapurthala; Vivek Partap Singh, Secretary of Vigilance, for Gurdaspur and Pathankot; Ajit Singh Pannu, Commissioner of Patiala Division, for Patiala and Fatehgarh Sahib; and V K Meena, Revenue Secretary, Ferozpur and Faridkot.
