Pb Cong asks its rebels to support party candidates

The Congress asked its rebel candidates on Wednesday to support party's official candidates in the upcoming zila parishad and elections, and warned them of "disciplinary action" for non-compliance.

Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) expressed confidence that the party would win Panchayti Raj elections with "huge margin" as he claimed "support of all the segments of society"


"The SAD, BJP and are not seen anywhere in the electoral fray and people of had already rejected them," Jakhar said in a party release here.

Meanwhile, election symbols have been allotted to 855 candidates for 22 zila parishads and 6,028 candidates for 150 panchayat samitis in Punjab.

On the last day of withdrawal of nomination papers, 3,734 candidates withdrew their papers, out of which 446 candidates are for zila parishads and 3,288 candidates for panchayat samitis, an for the said in a release here.
