Peacock rescued from well

Fire and rescue services personnel rescued a peacock from a well in the backyard of a house near Mayiladuthurai in the district nearly two days after it fell into it.

According to official sources, Vijay Arivazhakan, a resident of Komal village heard the screaming sound of a peacock on Thursday in the backyard of his house. He spotted the peacock in a well and alerted the fire and rescue services personnel.

A team of from Kuthalam fire station rescued the peacock from the 50-ft deep well.

The peacock, appearing to be one year old was treated by veterinary doctors and was later handed over to forest officials.
