A strong plea for holding simultaneous elections to Lok Sabha and the state Assemblies was today made by a BJP member in the Lok Sabha and got support from NDA members.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Virendra Kumar of BJP said simultaneous polls were necessary to help the development process which gets affected due to continuous poll processes either at local, state or Parliament level.
People too get fed up by these elections taking place one after another, he said.

Several BJP as also Shiv Sena members supported the suggestion.
Another BJP member Kirron Kher raised the issue of a Good Samaritan law, saying a comprehensive legislation in this regard is the need of the hour.
She said this was because the fear of legal and procedural hassles and in many cases the harassment that follows is so high that people do not come forward to help accident victims.
