An organisation of displaced persons of Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) today lauded and thanked Jammu and Kashmir government for approving a Rs 9000 crore financial package for the settlement of the refugee families.

"We thank J&K government, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz and all cabinet ministers for extending the financial package to our community," Chairman of S O S International, Rajiv Chuni told reporters here today.

Chuni said the community members, who had to flee from their homes in PoK in 1947 and were forced to lead a pitiable life in dilapidated scattered camps spread across the Jammu province, can now feel a little honoured.

Chuni, however, rued that the package should have come 60 years ago in 1954 when the then Cabinet accorded temporary rehabilitation to his community.
