Police arrested three suspected bootleggers, who had been using a red beacon on their car to evade checking, and seized over 4,000 quarters of country-made liquor this morning.
However, their trick backfired this time as the red beacon on their vehicle aroused the suspicion of the police as its use has been banned by the central government since May 1.
"This morning, police received information about an Innova Car bearing a red beacon and a white Swift Car bearing a temporary number coming to Nand Nagri," said Ajit Kumar Singla, Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast).
