Police today arrested the tehsil supplies officer (TSO) of public distribution department after he was found involved in embezzlement of rations worth lakhs meant for the public in Bhalessa belt of Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir.
"TSO Gandoh, Suresh Kumar was today arrested in a case of embezzlement registered at Police station Gandoh for his involvement was established after a prolonged investigation by SHO," said SDPO Gandoh, Sunny Gupta.
"Some more arrests are expected within a couple of days, but we cannot divulge the details of the others involved in the scam as it can hamper the investigation which has reached a crucial juncture," he added.

In April, 2016, Gandoh Police seized 501 quintals of wheat and rice in 1,002 bags of consumer affairs and public distribution department (CAPD) ration from two private shops at Bhatyas in Chilly Pingal Tehsil of Doda district.
Storekeeper Abdul Rashed was arrested but was later released on bail.
The arrest was made in the course of a criminal investigation that has been going on since April last year.
People of Bhalessa have appreciated police action and said this will go a long way in curbing the menace of black marketing of rations and kerosene meant for the poor who are totally dependent on CAPD ration supply.
