A police inspector was today caught by Lokayukta police while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.

According to Lokayukta police, the accused had sought money from the complainant for filing his report against a Jaipur-based firm, which had allegedly duped him of Rs 7.5 lakh.

"The Jaipur-based company had disappeared after taking Rs 7.5 lakh from complainant Salim Mansoori, a resident of Kasravad, for investment in a gold scheme. Mansoori then approached Haat-Pipalya police station in Dewas district for filing a case in this connection," DSP Lokayukta, S S Udavat said.

"However, police station in-charge, Sanjay Mandloi allegedly sought Rs 20,000 from him for filing the report, following which he tipped-off Lokayukta sleuths about it," he added.

On the basis of his complaint, a trap was laid and Mandloi was allegedly caught red-handed in his office taking Rs 20,000 bribe in Dewas district, Udavat said.

A case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against Mandloi in this regard.

Further investigation into the case is on.
