Police nab 7 suspected human traffickers, rescue 2 girls

The Howrah Police, with the help of their Ghaziabad counterpart, has arrested seven suspected human traffickers and rescued two girl from their clutches, police said.

They said the rescued girls were from West Bengal and Jharkhand.

SP (City) Akash Tomar said four women and 3 men have been arrested.

He said a police team from Howrah had arrived here with three members of a racket on their tip-off and nabbed the suspects from the Nand Gram colony

The girls were lured from their native place with a promise of marriage and were sold here to a human-trafficking racket, police said, adding six of the arrested accused are from Meerut.

 

The house-owner has also been arrested for renting out her house in the Nand Gram colony allegedly for prostitution, the police said.

The rescued girls told the police the racket allegedly forced them into prostitution, police said.

Both the girls were produced before the magistrate in a local court here and were granted transit remand. The girls will be handed over to their family, the officer added.
