Police and naxals were engaged in a gunfight at Kamthala forest in Gadchiroli district yesterday, police said.
Acting on intelligence input that naxal movement was noticed in the forest area, a joint anti-naxal operation was undertaken by Gadchiroli police and CRPF to flush out the maoists, police said.
After some time of exchange of fire the naxals fled from the spot, police said, adding, though no firearms were found from the area, literature and other daily use material were recovered.
The anti-naxal operation has been intensified in forest area, a release issued by Gadchiroli police said.
