A police officer was arrested today for allegedly opening fire over a dispute at the residence of the in-laws of his sister on the outskirts of Jammu city.
"We have arrested Sub-Inspector (SI) Sukhbir Singh for opening fire from a revolver in the house of the in-laws of his sister at Channu Chak in Kanachak area last evening," Sub-Inspector, Narinder Singh Chib, said here.
Chib said that Singh, a resident of Rajouri district, had gone there to resolve a dispute when he opened fire from his revolver.
No one was injured in the incident, he added.
Singh escaped from the spot and was later arrested, the officer said, adding that a car and the fired cartridge have been seized.
