Police officer arrested for sexually harassing minor girl

A police officer was arrested here today for allegedly sexually harassing a minor girl, his relative.

The man, a Sub-Inspector in neighbouring Kottayam district, was booked on the basis of a complaint by the girls parents last month, they said.

The officer, charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), approached the Court seeking anticipatory bail but it was rejected, police said.

In her complaint, the girl alleged that the officer grabbed her wrist without her permission when she was in the elevator of a building here on Monday.

Police said the officer is a relative of the girl.
