Police today rejected the permission to All India Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi to organise a meeting and 'chalo Assembly' programme on March 18 on the issue of categorisation of scheduled castes.
Ragati Sathyam Madiga, national working president of the Samithi, had requested police for granting permission to conduct meeting at Indira Park here which was to be followed by 'Chalo Assembly' programme, with a demand to pass a resolution on categorisation of SCs in the ongoing budget session of AP Legislative Assembly.
"It is reliably learnt that the organiser is intending to mobilise supporters in the name of a meeting at Indira Park and the actual intention is to march towards Assembly with hundreds of supporters to press their demand for passing a resolution in support of categorisation of SCs which is likely to result in a major law and order situation," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Zone) V B Kamalasan Reddy.
