The police today stopped a BJP rally taken out by party National Secretary and in-charge of West Bengal Siddharth Nath Singh at Champdani in Hooghly district as the party did not have permission to hold the rally at that time.
Inspector In-Charge of Bhadreswar police station Anudyuti Majumdar said Singh's rally was to be held at 3 PM but it was started after 4.30 PM, so we requested the BJP leadership to postpone the rally.
Majumdar said the request was made as the Trinamool Congress had obtained permission to take out a rally at the same place at that time.
