China has deployed nearly 1.78 lakh policemen nationwide to maintain smooth traffic during the first day of Chinese New Year's day, to ensure smooth traffic, the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) said.
No major traffic accidents or jams had been reported so far the MPS's traffic management bureau said.
The efforts have been made to alleviate traffic pressure on the roads to temples and scenic spots, state-run Xinhua news agency reported late last night.
