Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi today said the new Director General of Police (DGP) S Sundari Nanda would take the force towards modernisation and prepare it for years ahead.
In a tweet, she said: "Puducherry will benefit enormously by her leadership here. She is known for her sound professional capability and leadership qualities. She will take Puducherry police towards modernisation and prepare it for years ahead. Pondy gets first woman DGP."
Sundari Nanda, an IPS officer of 1988 batch, has been appointed DGP of the union territory.
The present incumbent S K Gautam has been shifted to Delhi as per an order of the Union home ministry yesterday.
