Unidentified miscreants today allegedly burnt a portion of a gurudwara in Sriganganagar district today.

"Some cloths and other material inside the gurudwara were set ablaze in the wee hours in 11 G Choti village. The holy book Guru Granth Sahib was removed before starting the fire," SP, Sriganganagar, Hari Prasad Sharma said.

Prima facie, a dispute between two Sikh families appears to be the reason. However, the matter is being probed to ascertain further details, he said.

Additional policemen have been deployed in the area as a precautionary measure though there was no tension.

The security guard of the gurudwara spotted flames and smoke and informed villagers, after which the flames were put out. A small portion of the gurudwara got damaged in the fire, Sharma said.
