Describing the NDA government's proposed Industrial Relations Bill, 2015 as part of the Labour Code as 'anti-labour', DMK Treasurer MK Stalin today charged the ruling BJP with 'trying' to fool the people.
"Although the Union government claims that the objective of the amendment is to improve the business environment, this anti-labour provision will destroy the lives and livelihood of workers all over India," he said in his Facebook page.
According to the provisions of the bill, companies can sack upto 300 employees without prior government approval even as forming a trade union would require at least 10 per cent of the employees or 100 of them as opposed to the present requirement of seven, he said.

"Rather than addressing the real factors which hold up industrial projects such as cronyism, red tape and lack of accountability, the Union government is trying to fool us by taking away the right of workers," he said.
While the BJP had promised development of all, the party-led government at the Centre 'seems to be working for the development of only large industrial houses,' he said and urged the Centre to re-consider its stand on the Labour Code, keeping in mind the concerns of the workers.
