Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) Chairman-cum-Managing Director K D Chaudhary resigned from his post today.

The new Congress government in the state, at its recent cabinet meeting, decided to appoint an IAS officer as Chairman-cum-Managing Director of PSPCL.

Chaudhary, who was due to vacate office in February, was given extension for two years by the previous Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)-BJP combine government even as he had crossed 65 years of age.

Meanwhile, senior IAS officer A Venu Prasad is set to assume charge as Chairman-cum-Managing Director of PSPCL, an official spokesman said here today.

Chaudhary advocated for export of power with neighbouring countries like Pakistan and Bangladesh.

He said that it was his dream to export power to Pakistan but it was blocked by the Union Government as the matter was international.
