The prices of pulses have come down in Madhya Pradesh by Rs 5-7 within 24 hours of relaxation in Mandi Tax in the state, dal millers said today.
"The state government agreed to our demand and restored the relaxation in tax applicable to the pulses processors (dal mill owners) from January 6.
Its effect was visible within 24 hours and now the wholesale prices of tur (arhar), moong, urad and masoor have come down by Rs 5-7," Madhya Pradesh Dal Udyog Mahasangh president Suresh Agrawal said here.

"Price of tur dal which was being sold in the market at Rs 96 per kg has now come down to Rs 89 per kg," he said.
Dal Mahasagh represents 700 millers in the state.
The relaxation in Mandi Tax is being given since 1998 to the millers, but it was discontinued in August 2015.
The Mahasangh had said this tax burden gave undue advantage to dal millers from outside the state.
