To promote Industrialization in the state, the Punjab government today allowed the plot holders of Goindwal Industrial Complex (GIC) to make payment of dues of principal cost and enhanced land cost with 10 per cent annual simple interest.
The concession would be available to those having plots up to 8,000 square yards and who were allotted plots on or before December 31, 1995, an official spokesman said here today.
He said that a decision to this effect was taken in the meeting of Council of Ministers chaired by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal here today.

He said that under the package, component of penal and compounding interest has been waived.
Apart from the above, defaulter allottees including those of cancelled allotments where any sort of construction/ production exists have been given option to make payment of their dues in lump sum within 90 days of intimation or in two equated half yearly instalments to be due by June 30, 2017 and December 31, 2017 with up to date interest.
Besides, concerned plot holders would also ensure in bringing their units into production within one year effective from the date of revival of this package, he added.
He said that earlier, a package was provided to the defaulters of Goindwal Industrial Complex, who were allotted plots up to 1,000 square yards on or before December 31, 1995 and only few plot holders had availed the benefit.
He said that now, on the persistent demand of the plot holders who could not avail this benefit earlier, the Cabinet has allowed to extend similar concession to the plot holders having plot of up to 8,000 square yards.
The Cabinet also decided to enhance the monthly honorarium of Mid Day meal workers by Rs 500 from Rs 1,200 to Rs 1,700.
With this decision, nearly 42,000 Mid Day meal workers would be benefitted across the state, he added.
In order to impart quality higher education to the students hailing from rural and economically backward areas of the state, the Cabinet also gave nod for taking over Sant Baba Sewa Singh Memorial Khalsa College (Girls), Guru Ka Khuh Mune (Nurpur Bedi) in Rupnagar district as Government College.
He said that at present, about 450 girls were being imparted education in Arts, Commerce and Science courses in this college.
