The state today celebrated the 475th birth anniversary of Maharana Pratap with traditional fervour, with Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal paying tribute to the Rajput ruler.
Speaking on the occasion, organised by the state unit of the Punjab Rajput Sabha at Dinanagar near here, Badal talked about the significance of the Rajputana history and said "the legendary Maharana Pratap was a true patriot who initiated the first war of independence."
He promised to stall a statue of Maharana Partap at Pathankot bus-stand along with a Maharana Partap bhawan in Punjab.
Deputy Speaker of Punjab Legislative Assembly, Dinesh Singh Babu, stressed that the youth of the country needed to imbibe the spirit of the Mewar ruler.
