Punjab CEO ask officers/employees to register as voters

Officers and employees would be able to register as voters from October 1 to 31 with the Electoral Registration Officer or Booth Level Officer, according to the schedule released by the Election Commission of India, the spokesperson said.

During the last Assembly elections in the state, names of many officers and employees were found missing from the voter lists, who had performed election duty as presiding officers/polling officers, she said.

According to the EC, to perform election duty, it was mandatory for a government official to be a voter, she said.

The CEO also asked all administrative secretaries, heads of boards and corporations, managing directors, divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners and all district election officers to issue orders to employees working under them in this regard, she said.
