Punjab food minister meets Paswan

Food and Bharat Ashu today met Union Food in and sought his intervention in the non-reimbursement of expenditure incurred over and purchase of gunny bags.

Conceding to the long pending demand of Punjab, the Centre has agreed to release the pending payment of Rs 950 crore out of which 50 per cent would be released immediately and the remaining amount too would be released on priority, said Bhushan.

He said during the Central pool procurement operations, the and its agencies had to suffer loss of approximately Rs 1,100 crore for paddy and Rs 300 crore for wheat every year.
