The Punjab government today asked private medical practitioners to register themselves or else face strict ation.
Presiding over a high-level meeting here, Health and Family Welfare minister Madan Mohan Mittal took a serious note of unregistered doctors practising in the state.
Warning them, he said such practices would not be tolerated and no one would be allowed to play with the health of people.

The minister said it was mandatory for private doctors to get themselves registered with the government and anyone not doing so should be ready to face strict action.
He instructed the officials to regularly keep a watch on such doctors at district and block levels.
Mittal said "innocent people often face consequences of non-professional doctors and sometimes people even lose their lives."
He said people should avail medical facilities at low affordable prices from government hospitals.
