Punjab Government today reconstituted the 'State Advisory Board' of language department by nominating personalities from different walks of life as its members.
A spokesperson of the Chief Minister's Office said the Board has been mandated to select the intellectuals/artistes for the Shiormani Awards conferred by the state government every year besides finalising policies of language department.
In consonance with the suggestions of a sub-committee, received on July 9 2014, for finalising the Board, the state government has, for the first time, nominated only those persons to the body who have earlier received Shiromani Awards, so that the members could not propose themselves for this honor, he said.
As per the decision, Higher Education and Language Minister Punjab would be the Chairperson of the Board and Principal Secretary Higher Education and Languages department would be its vice chairperson whereas Director Language Department, Patiala would be the member/convener, he said.
