Quake in Assam, neighbouring areas

A moderate intensity earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale hit Assam and its neighbouring areas today.

The quake hit at 3.31 PM and was at a depth of 120 km in the region of Myanmar with its epicentre at latitude 21.2 degree north and 94.7 degree east, the met office here said.

There was no immediate report of any loss of life or damage to property, police said.
