Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje today said the BJP government in the state is looking at a target to disburse interest-free loans worth Rs 75,000 crore to farmers in its five-year tenure.
She said that interest-free loans worth Rs 57,000 crore have already been disbursed among farmers in the last three- and-a-half years in the state.
Speaking at the inauguration of agri-tech meet 'GRAM' here, Raje said the government distributed close to Rs 57,000 crore as interest-free loans in the last three-and-a- half years.
She said the government will make a record by distributing interest-free loans worth Rs 75,000 crore in five years. Raje added that the former Congress government distributed interest-free loans worth Rs 25,000 crore in five years.
Union Minister of State for agriculture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that Rajasthan is the leading state to implement PM crop insurance scheme.
He said the state government is working in the direction to double the income of farmers by the year 2022.
While highlighting the potential of the agriculture sector in the state, Raje said there is potential of agri- tourism in the state and farmers should take its benefits.
She suggested that farmers should grow medicinal plants along with traditional crops.
She said the MoUs signed during the event in the field of horticulture, biogas, agro-processing will help farmers.
Farmers from the Udaipur division, agriculture experts and companies are participating in the event.
