Train services to Assam was affected as the Dooars Rail Bachao Committee has started a rail roko agitation at New Mal railway station in Jalpaiguri district today, railway sources said.
The members of the Dooars Rail Bachao Committee started squatting in the railway tracks in New Mal railway station from 10 am demanding that all express trains halt at the station and also demanding introduction of train service between New Mal and Changrabanda, the sources said.
As a result of the rail roko agitation many trains were stranded in different station the sources said adding officials were trying to pursue the agitators to lift the agitation.
