Eastern Railway today cancelled four express trains to north Bengal and Assam from here owing to the ongoing agitation by the GCPA demanding C category statehood or Union Territory status for Cooch Behar.
Members of Greater Cooch Behar Peoples Association (GCPA) squatted on railway tracks at New Cooch Behar station for the second day today to press for their demand.
The trains cancelled for the day were 15959 Up Howrah-Dibrugarh Kamrup Express and 12345 Up Howrah-Guwahati Saraighat Express, ER sources said.
The other two trains which were cancelled were 13141 Up Sealdah-New Alipurduar Teesta Torsha Express and 13147 Up Sealdah-New Cooch Behar Uttarbanga Express, the sources said.
