Rajasthan government today said the state will not only become self-reliant in power generation but also provide electricity to neighboring states after four months from now.

"Every village having population of 100 people would be connected with power in the 12th Five Year Plan," Energy Minister Gajendra Singh Kheenvsar said today in the Assembly.

A sum of Rs 1,852 crore granted under the 12th Plan would be spent for giving power to villages, he added.

The Minister said that the government would strengthen power distribution system by containing theft and losses so that round the clock electricity could be provided to domestic consumers.

Kheenvsar said he was touring the state to review the power situation and so far he has covered 15 districts out of 33.

After the tour, a new energy policy and a master plan would be prepared, he added.
