The first batch of 33 Tirupati Balaji pilgrims was today flagged off at the Jaipur International Airport by Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.

The all-expense-paid pilgrimage for senior citizens aged above 70 has been organised by state government.

"This is first-of-its-kind pilgrimage in the country where senior citizens are travelling on a plane. The pilgrims were given an option to choose between train and flight," Raje said.

"Twenty-six such all-expense-paid pilgrimage tours will be organised for nearly 1,000 senior citizens," she said.

The pilgrims were selected on the basis of a lottery.
