RANE TRW Steering Systems today opened an airbag manufacturing facility here which will serve automakers, including Ford India, Renault Nissan and Mahindra and Mahindra.
Ford India Managing Director and President Nigel Harris formally unveiled the unit at a function here.
"The commissioning of the new facility demonstrates the company's commitment to support technology evolution in passenger vehicles", said Harish Lakshman, Managing Director, Rane TRW.

The airbag manufacturing facility is located close to the seat-belt manufacturing unit at Singaperumal Kovil near here.
The plant employs about 450 people and would serve automakers including Ford India, Renault Nissan and Mahindra and Mahindra.
Currently, Rane TRW Steering Systems exports 15 per cent of the seat-belts to Brazil, Columbia, Vietnam and Thailand.
"We anticipate exponential growth in the application of frontal airbags over the next decade and Rane TRW will be well positioned to support both global OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturer) and domestic OEMs..", he said.
The state-of-the-art airbag facility is a joint venture between the RANE Group and ZF TRW, a division of US-based automobile supplier TRW Automotive.
The airbag manufacturing plant would assemble driver and passenger airbag modules and will roll out upto five lakh airbags initially, Lakshman said in a release.
