Ration and other essential commodities were supplied with the help of a helicopter to a Himachal Pradesh village today, as a road was damaged in heavy rains, an official said.
A total of 10.90-quintal ration was supplied to Bara Bhangal village in Baijnath area of Kangra district via four helicopter sorties from Chamba. It was done as per the instructions issued by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, said Sandeep Kumar, district deputy commissioner.
The pedestrian path between Bara Gaon and Bara Bhangal was damaged in heavy rains, Kumar said.
Baijnath MLA Mulkh Raj personally monitored the entire process. Ration will also be supplied to the village through helicopter tomorrow, Kumar said.
Earlier, ration and other essential commodities were sent through a route from Patikuhal village of Kullu district as the helicopter could not fly due to bad weather, he added.
