Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat today flagged off a bikers' rally here in the honour of twin sisters from the city Tashi and Nungshi Malik who created history recently by becoming the first ever siblings to scale the world's seven tallest peaks in as many continents.
Congratulating the twin sisters along with their parents, the chief minister said they had done the entire state proud by achieving the rare feat in mountaineering history.
Rawat, who met the twin sisters this morning, also flagged off a bikers' rally from Bijapur Guest House as a mark of honour for the young achievers from Doon.

The chief minister showered praise on their parents Virendra and Anju Thapa Malik for encouraging the talented sisters saying without parental support and dedication, the promising twins would not have succeeded in their mission.
Tashi and Nungshi Malik achieved the distinction of being the first ever siblings to scale seven tallest peaks in seven continents by successfully climbing Mt Vinson, the highest peak in Antarctica last month.
The Malik sisters had begun their joint expedition in 2012. The 23-year-old twins have successfully scaled the top of Mt Kilimanjaro (Africa), Mt Everest (Asia), Mt Elbrus (Europe), Mt Aconcagua (South America), Mt Carstensz Pyramid (Oceania), Mt McKinley (North America), and finally Mt Vinson Massif (Antarctica).
