A large number of workers of Rail Coach Factory (RCF) today staged a protest against Centre's move to allow the FDI in railways.
Protesters voiced concern over the privatisation of railways and described it as an "anti-employee" decision.
Sarbjit Singh, president, Indian Employees Federation and general secretary, RCF Employee Union, said the rail budget presented by Union Rail Minister Sadanand Gowda is leading towards privatisation (of railways) and the approval of FDI by Cabinet has created a lot of resentment among the railways employees.
He further said that RCF Employees Union will take out 'Jan Jagran Abhiyan' to highlight the "anti-employee" policies of the Union government.
The Union Cabinet had approved the proposal to allow 100 per cent Foreign Direct Investment in areas such as high speed trains systems, suburban corridors and dedicated freight line projects that are to be executed under public-private mode.
