The Indian Cotton Federation has estimated a record cotton crop of 406 lakh bales (170 kg each) for the 2014-15 season.

The estimates for the October'14 to September'15 period, were arrived at the board meeting held here on November 22, ICF President J Thulasidharan said.

Gujarat will top the list with 125 lakh bales, followed by Maharashtra 85 lakh, Telangana 45 lakh, Karnataka 36 lakh, Seemandhra 25 lakh bales and Haryana 24 lakh bales, he said.

Yarn prices were stable during the last one week.

In the last three days the prices were upward due to seasonal demand and brisk export booking, compared to last eight weeks during which the prices had been continuously declining due to lower new season cotton prices, Thulasidharan said.
