Amid pick-up in domestic demand and tight supplies from producing regions, refined soya oil prices gained 0.98 per cent to Rs 594.70 per 10 kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, refined soya oil for delivery in February moved up by Rs 5.80, or 0.98 per cent, to Rs 594.70 per 10 kg with an open interest of 41,860 lots.

On similar lines, the oil for delivery in January gained Rs 4.85, or 0.79 per cent, to Rs 591 per 10 kg in 91,575 lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise in refined soya oil futures to pick-up in demand in the spot market due to ongoing marriage season amid tight supplies from producing belts.
