Remarks not derogatory, based on folklore: Naresh Agarwal

Under attack over his alleged derogatory remarks against women, SP leader and MP Naresh Agarwal today said he stood by his comments, saying they were based on folklore.

Addressing a Dalit sammelan, the SP national secretary said he stood by his remarks, but if any women's organisation or any other person was hurt, he would withdraw his statement.

Naresh had on Friday allegedly made some derogatory remarks against women while dismissing BJP leader Narendra Modi's allegation of nepotism in Samajwadi Party.

The statement was disowned by SP, saying it may be his personal view.
