RIL shares up 4%; mcap rises by Rs 17,183 cr

Shares of Reliance Industries today rose by 4 per cent to a nine-year high with the company's telecom unit Jio set to charge for its services from tomorrow.

The stock went up by 3.93 per cent to close at Rs 1,319.20 on BSE. During the day, it surged 5.25 per cent to a multi-year high of Rs 1,336.

At NSE, shares of the company moved up by 3.95 per cent to Rs 1,320.90.

Led by the rise in price, the company's market valuation surged Rs 17,183.46 crore to Rs 4,28,908.46 crore.

On volume front, 16.74 lakh shares of the company were traded on BSE and over one crore shares changed hands on NSE during the day.
 

RIL was the best performer among Sensex and Nifty scrips.
