Workers of Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) today staged a protest here over alleged non-payment of dues to sugarcane farmers in Uttar Pradesh and "erratic" power and water supply to cane and wheat crop fields.
Addressing the protesters, including farmers, outside the collectorate, Mahanagar President of RLD Ramanand Goel criticised the SP government in the state for its policies concerning farmers.
He alleged payments to sugarcane farmers to the tune of crores of rupees have been delayed by many sugar mills of UP.

Lack of funds with farmers is another hindrance in the cultivation, Goel said, adding that erratic power and insufficient water supply were multiplying the woes of the cultivators.
These issues will further cast a negative impact on sugarcane and wheat production in Uttar Pradesh, he said.
"Farmers are feeding the nation, but they are not getting fair price for their crops," he said.
