Road accidents claims 4258 lives in Kerala in 2013

Motor vehicle accidents has claimed 4258 human lives in Kerala in 2013, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala informed the assembly today.

Thiruvananthapuram district topped the list with 556 deaths followed by Ernakulam with 496, Kollam 439, Alappuza 394 and Kozhikode 367, Chennithala said in a written reply.

A total of 49,01,326 traffic violation cases were registered during the period. An amount of Rs.66,51,87,866 have been collected as fine in traffic violation cases, he added.
