Ahead of the first phase Lok Sabha polls in West Bengal on April 17, the EC today said they have seized illicit liquor worth more than Rs 2 crore besides a huge cache of arms and explosives.
Election Commission officials said illicit liquor worth Rs 2.25 crore and 5,164 bombs, 1,030 arms and explosives were seized.
Besides, 27,484 licensed weapons have been deposited with the police before the polls, officials said.

The EC has also instructed all district police superintendents and commissioners to execute pending non-bailable warrants as fast as possible and bring down the number to zero.
So far, 47,124 such warrants have been executed.
Earlier in the day, EC officials held a meeting with top officials including the DMs, SPs and commissioners of police of various districts to review the law and order situation.
They have identified 13,000 hamlets in the state as vulnerable and more than 11,000 persons as potential sources of trouble.
