Over Rs 3,186 crore has been paid to more than 17 lakh military veterans on account of One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme and 100% compliance is expected by the month-end, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar today said.

"17,29,358 pensioners have benefited from OROP to the tune of Rs 3,186 crore. Expect to ensure cent per cent compliance by May end," Parrikar tweeted.

A section of veterans, who had been protesting for "complete" implementation of OROP, had recently called off their nearly a year-long protest at Jantar Mantar.

They have now decided to take the legal route to press their demand.

Parrikar had in September last year announced implementation of the OROP for ex-servicemen but the veterans have been continuing with their protest demanding "complete" implementation of the scheme.
