Rs 5.94 cr deficit budget for Salem Corp

A Rs 5.94 core deficit budget for 2016-17 for the city corporation was today presented by Mayor S. Soundappan.

Presenting the budget at the corporation council here, he said the projected revenue was Rs 455.83 crore against an estimated expenditure of Rs 461.77 crore, leaving a deficit of Rs 5.94 crore.

Opposition DMK councillors raised slogans alleging that no development schemes had been carried out during the last five years.
