Authorities in coastal Raigad district have directed installation of rumbler strips at entry and exit points of all petrol pumps, in view of the increasing number of accidents due to bulky speed-breakers.
The rumbler strips, to be installed before and after the merge-in and outs, will slow down the speed of vehicles, Raigad Collector Dr Vijay Suryawanshi said.
"All tehsildars have been asked to ensure compliance with the directive and submit a spot verification report," the IAS officer said.

"It has been observed that road mishaps involving vehicles coming out of the pumps are being reported frequently. To prevent such cases, the speed of vehicles entering and exiting the pumps needs to be controlled by the use of rumbler strips," Suryawanshi said.
The district administration has directed all petrol/diesel pumps in Raigad along the National Highway, State Highway and other roads to install the rumbler strips, he said.
Tehsildars have been asked to convene a meeting of pump operators and ask them to make arrangements to place rumbler strips at entry and exit points of the pumps, he said.
